Adaptation transfer procedure .be coming soon

After the SIDN (.nl registry) the .be registry, DNS.be, also announced they’ll change their transfer procedure. On June 14th 2011 the new procedure will be launched. Due to this adaptation, the distinction between the transfer and trade procedure will disappear.

The SIDN will change transfer procedure soon

The SIDN (.nl registry) has announced they’ll soon change the transfer procedure for the .nl domain. This will happen on May 17th 2011. This change reflects the findings of a survey which was held amongst .nl participants (.nl registrars) and .nl registrants.

Norid takes a closer look at .co.no

A while ago we already posted a message informing you that the release of the co.no extension has been postponed until March 25th since Norid (Norwegian registry) had some extra questions regarding .co.no. On March 25th however, the release was postponed once more since the Norwegian registry hasn’t given their permission yet for the release of this extension. And at the moment, it doesn’t seem things will soon be changing.

FBI seizes 3 major poker sites

The FBI has shut down the sites of PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker. Until now, it seems only the .com variants of those sites have been seized. Moreover several bank accounts were frozen (65 accounts in 14 different countries) and 11 people, including the owners of those sites, were indicted for fraud, the provision of illegal gambling and money laundering.

Norid relaunches .priv.no

On June 6th Norid will relaunch the .priv.no extension. This subdomain makes it possible for Norwegian individuals to register their own Norwegian domain name. Because of the strict rules for .no, this isn’t possible directly under the top level domain.

2 character and numeric .tel names available soon

Telnic (.tel registry) has announced there will be a landrush for 2 character .tel names (for instance ab.tel) and for .tel names which only contains numbers (for instance 12.tel). However those numeric names can’t contain more than 8 digits. Combinations, so a 2 character .tel name containing 1 letter and 1 number are also possible (for instance a1.tel).

800.000 .РФ names registrations

Since the launch of the IDN extension, .РФ, on November 25th 2009, 800.000 domain names have been registered under this extension. This domaine, .РФ, is the IDN extension for .rf (Russian Federation). Obviously Russia is very pleased with this result.
