.xxx plans very strict registration policy

.info supports Japanese registrants

Afilias (.info-registry) decided not to charge the renewal fee of a .info domain name to the victims of the tsunami in Japan.  By doing this the registry wants to show his compassion with the victims of this natural disaster.

ICANN approves .xxx extension

Friday we posted a message about the fact that the .sx extension (Sint Maarten) could be a great alternative for the .xxx domain since ICANN didn’t make a final decision about the .xxx domain. Finally ICANN made a decision, the .xxx extension has been approved.

.sx as an alternative for .xxx?

A while ago we already posted an article about the creation of 3 new country codes (ccTLD’s) to represent the new nations created by the breakup of the Netherlands Antilles in October 2010. One of those extensions is the .sx-domain for the isle of Sint Maarten.

9 million registered .org names

A few days ago, the 9 millionth .org domain names was registered. Obviously PIR (.org registry) is very pleased they’ve passed this milestone. The .org extension now is the third largest gTLD and the 4th largest extension overall. However it needs to share this 4th place with the .uk extension.

ICANN seriously warns .jobs registry

ICANN seriously warned Employ Media, the .jobs-registry. The reason they did this was because the .jobs registry had set up a partnership with their preferred partner the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The .jobs registry allowed this company to register domain name under the .jobs extension while these registrations weren’t in line with the current policy of the .jobs registry.
